I promised pictures!

As you might have noticed: I skipped not just one, but two weeks.. Sorry! The week of trees, moss and hot chocolate made me eager to dive in the studio and do more painting. But when I got back from the Ardennes there were some chores just waiting to sneak up on me. I needed to get those out of the way first..
But here I am! With pictures!
This is the view from the house.

I had an encounter with a deer close to this field, in the forest. It was really special. We have been looking at each other for several minutes. I'll never forget it. She was beautiful.
The thing I love the most about this place is not just the trees and the smell of the trees, but also the moss. Everything seems to be covered in it.

Mighty carpets of moss! I did a mossy painting as well.. I'll be posting some paintings soon..

Week in the woods

As announced, I'll be away for a week. I won't be able to respond to any e-mail. (And no, it is not a problem that I mention this online.. No burglar will want to check out my messy home for anything that might be valuable.)

I will be in the woods in an old wooden house my grandparents used to own for their vacations. I am so glad to go back there. It will be a week spent with good friends.. Relaxing, laughing, painting and drawing.
I'm sure it will be a great place to fill my head with nature, textures and trees that I can use in the next project I am working on; "Verhalen uit een ander rijk" or "Stories from a different realm" (written by Ana Magdalena Zainea).
I hope I'll have a lot of wonderful pictures for you all when I get back!

Blogspot ate my comments

I don't know what Blogspot is up to recently, but for all those people who tried to comment, failed and then sent me a message anyhow; thanks! (Yes Emma, you weren't the only one..) I really appreciate to know that people actually read what I write, think about it and have a response.
I appreciate people that agree with me and that people don't. And yes dad, I know you plan on brewing biological beer in the future.. But it isn't in the fridge yet.. ;)

Two posts ago I spoke about a place with treehouses (or tree-towers) in Spain. I thought I'd upload photos I made there to give a sense of how amazing that place is. Remember, this was all built by one man.

And sorry if this post is a bit all over the place. I'll write something more cohesive next time..

The contents of a fridge that is not mine

After several very clear signs of my body to TAKE A BREAK.. NOW! I decided to take two weeks off. Next week will be spent with friends in a house in the Ardennes. There will be lots of drawing and painting.. This week I decided to visit my parents for a few days.

I love to be here with my parents, as I don't see them very often, but I find it hard to not be in my own world. Our discussions on politics get very heated and in the fridge biological food is nowhere to be found. In the evening, we watch television together. I rarely watch tv anymore and now the regular news broadcast just makes me sad or angry. I see how they present stories from just one angle and neglect to present the full truth.
(Yesterday there was a news item on how we need the bio-industry, since biological farming doesn't produce as much meat. The argument that we can't carry on eating as much meat as we do, was responded to with "we just aren't going to eat less meat so that is just not going to happen." Nothing about how we are going to need three 'earths' if we keep eating the way we do.)
I very much see this as an old way of living. I get confronted with ideas and habits I tossed long ago. I need to accept that my parents just live differently than I do. I have to learn not to judge others, as I believe everyone has their own path.

So I'll try to ignore the news and the content of the fridge, not talk about politics too often, relax and just do some knitting. Hoorah, knitting! :)
