Colourful cards

This painting will be for sale as a card very soon, along with some other works. The printer will have them finished very soon. I'm very excited to see what they look like!
I must say Flickr somehow swallowed the colours of this one. It is much brighter and just more.. colourful. I'll post a picture of the finished cards when they arrive.

I will sell sets of them on the exhibition, after that they will go into my etsy shop.

Book preview

For my finals exhibition I have been making a book about what I would want the world to look like. It is a dreamy, poetic thing with different 'languages'. It includes paintings, detailed drawings and even comics. To get an idea, it includes this, this and this painting I posted in last Wordless Wednesday.

Maybe it would be more accurate to say that this book is actually about me. I spend most of my time daydreaming about what the future should look like. I enjoy it.
To celebrate that I finally stopped altering, changing and adding and printed the pages, another preview! (It's so rewarding to see something printed!)

Stress and creativity

Another post without a picture, I'm sorry! I promise, after my graduation, the picture-posting will continue.. I have about one or two weeks left to finish my last work and prepare for our final exhibition. I find it very hard to handle stress, do everything on my list, take good care of myself (damn you, PMS!) and be creative still at the same time.
It is very important to me that I can be satisfied about the work I have done when the exams are there and the exhibition opens. But is it important enough to be stressed about? Will I perform better when I stress about things or will I be able to create more when I relax? How can I even relax right now?
I look forward to all the projects I could do when this is all finished. Projects with no pressure on them.

Googling tells me stress does limit creativity. A Stephen Shapiro wrote some very interesting things about creativity and stress.

"The more creative the work, the less motivation required to hit peak levels of performance. Studies reveal that creativity diminishes when individuals are rewarded (externally motivated) for doing their work. Why? The desire to achieve the goal overtakes the personal interest in the endeavor. A myopic focus on the outcome overshadows the intellectual stimulation of the process. As a result, risk taking becomes reduced and creativity vanishes."

Pooping birds.. and spiders

We need pooping birds.
Yes we do. Why? Because their poo contains nitrogen, something we need to keep the soil fertile. I like the idea that every creature and every plant and every moss and fungus has an important role in keeping us alive.

I'm going to be very, very busy this month. If it all goes well, I will graduate in july. That's why I'll just leave you with that little idea and a picture of a spider. There's still so many things to do.

A garden spider...
